| Our Mission is to harness and cultivate the Detroit art scene with the goal of exposing Detroit as a viable source for art, as well as a city with a strong, thriving, artistic community. Detroit Artist Registry is doing this by representing an extensive database of Detroit art and artists. Our goal is to have representation for all facets of Detroit creative culture, including visual artists, filmmakers, musicians, art brokers, art buyers, and galleries.
Our History began in 2004 when artist Elizabeth Isakson and graphic designer Christopher Land developed www.cubegallery.com, an online art gallery which sold fine art reproductions from emerging artists. In 2006, artist Jennifer Quigley joined the team, and the concept of cubegallery began to take a new form. Instead of selling prints, the website now functions as Detroit Artist Registry, a database of Detroit artists.
Detroit Artist Registry has broadened the scope of the original cubegallery website. All artists, emerging or established, are invited to submit work. Exposure on the Registry will showcase artists and their work, highlight the artist’s biography, and sell art originals through the web. Detroit Artist Registry is also expanding to include different facets of the creative community in Detroit, and we plan to be a networking hub of artists, designers, PR agents, filmmakers, musicians, gallerists, publications, arts organizations, and private collectors and supporters.
Arts opportunities for members will be highlighted in the Detroit Artist Registry e-Newsletter, and will include gallery, auction, staging, and unconventional artist opportunities. Artists are also invited and encouraged to browse the database and network with other members of the Registry, set up art shows, or broaden their client base and gallery connections.
Detroit Artist Registry will also hold events, in- and out-of gallery shows, studio visits, loft parties and artist networking evenings to promote Registry artists, introduce new collectors to Detroit art, and sign up new members to the Registry.
